Construction Applications of Virtual Reality
11-13 December 2016, Hong Kong

Optional Technical Visit 1: Zero Carbon Building (ZCB) and CIC BIM Center (14 Dec Morning)

Zero Carbon Building (ZCB) was the first zero carbon building in Hong Kong, and was specifically designed for the high-density, hot and humid sub-tropical urban context. ZCB was developed by Construction Industry Council (CIC) in collaboration with the government in Hong Kong. ZCB has over 80 green building features, with over 1,000 building-integrated solar photovoltaics and over 2,800 sensing points.

CIC BIM Training Center was established in order to cater the needs of public and private entities to enhance BIM capabilities. The center is located at Vocational Training Council (VTC) center in Kowloon Bay. The training courses include Clash detection, 4D/5D BIM capabilities and different BIM applications.

Optional Technical Visit 2: Xiqu Center (14 Dec Afternoon)

Located in the West Kowloon Cultural District in Hong Kong, the Xiqu Center is a world-class arts venue dedicated to promoting the rich heritage of xiqu (Chinese opera). The Center has a perfect blend of historic artform with marvelous design. As this is one of the most complex building typologies, the Xiqu Center project involved a large team of professions from three continents, including acousticians, theater consultants, landscape and lighting consultants. By using BIM, the team was able to collaborate and work together at the same time. The Xiqu Center will be opened in 2018.
